Cinnamon For Hair Growth: Myths vs Facts purc magical treatment 1

Cinnamon has an inconsistent reputation as an effective ingredient. But what most people don’t realize is that cinnamon is great for your hair and scalp. It is rich in micronutrients like iron, manganese, and calcium, all of which are necessary for proper cycles of hair growth.

Contrary to rumors, cinnamon mostly suits all types of hair texture and is safe when used in proper concentrations. Read on to find out the myths you thought were true.

1) Myth- Cinnamon can reduce and reverse split ends

Fact- Cinnamon can indeed promote healthy hair growth, but it cannot reverse split ends.

Split ends can be caused due to excessive chemical treatments, exposure to heat, and pollution. No ingredient in the world can reverse split ends. The only way to get rid of them is to trim your hair and follow a healthy hair routine.

2) Myth- The tingling caused by cinnamon oil can damage your hair growth

Fact- The tingling occurs because cinnamon increases the blood circulation in your scalp. This blood circulation, in turn, stimulates hair follicles and promotes hair growth. The tingling does not cause any hair damage and subsides within two minutes or less.

3) Myth- Cinnamon can cure acne on your scalp

Fact- Cinnamon has anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory properties that can soothe the scalp itchiness and also prevent dandruff or head lice. PURC has some supreme quality cinnamon shampoos and shampoo bars

However, there are no studies to show that cinnamon can cure scalp acne.

This myth arises from the fact that cinnamon is sometimes used to treat facial acne. However, the acne on your scalp and face are not the same and require different treatments.

4) Myth- Cinnamon lightens your hair color

Fact- Cinnamon is used as a natural dyeing agent that can lighten your hair color by two shades with continuous use. But it cannot lighten your hair overnight as it is not as powerful as bleach treatments.

If you want blonde hair within a short period, it is best to chemically treat your hair color or use temporary coloring methods (like hair waxes).

Mixing ground cinnamon with your hair conditioner will help to get effective results in about two weeks.

5) Myth-  Cinnamon can grow your hair in two days

Fact- Like every other natural ingredient, cinnamon takes its time to function. Yes, cinnamon does increase hair growth by improving blood circulation, stimulating hair follicles, and increasing the frequency of cell cycles.

Micronutrients like zinc and manganese act as cofactors in several enzymatic reactions that are essential for your scalp metabolism. However, it does not give results in two days. It takes at least three weeks to get any noticeable difference in hair growth.

6) Myth- Cinnamon oil is better than cinnamon powder

Fact- Cinnamon essential oil is quite different from the cinnamon in your kitchen.

Cinnamon powder is derived from the quills, whereas cinnamon oil is distilled from the bark of the Cinnamomum verum (also known as True Cinnamon tree) tree. Both cinnamon powder and oil are equally beneficial for your hair.

These common myths have been circulating everywhere for quite some time. However, it is important to validate every piece of information with accurate reasons.

There are plenty of ingredients that can improve the quality of your hair, and cinnamon is one of them. If used correctly, this spice can address your hair problems without damaging them.
